Translation from Swedish to English

Translation from Swedish to English is an important Scandinavian language spoken by over 10 million people. Swedish is a particularly interesting language because it is to a considerable extent mutually interchangeable Norwegian and to a lesser extent Danish. It therefore very important that if you do require English to Swedish translation, it is carried out by someone who specialises in the Swedish language and understands the culture of the country.

The Swedish language has a range of dialects. The most well known rural dialects include Orsa in Dalarna and Närpes in Österbotten, both of which have very distinct phonetic and grammatical features such as plural forms of verbs. These different dialects can be near incomprehensible to the majority of Swedes. This is why when carrying out Swedish to English Swedish translation or Swedish English translation, accuracy can only be assured by a translator who has a wealth of experience and understanding of Swedish culture.

Swedish Culture

For many people when you mention Sweden some of the first things that come to mind are the famous band ABBA, Björn Borg battling it out with John McEnroe at Wimbledon, the car manufacturers Saab and Volvo, their passion for aesthetic and functional design which is embodied by IKEA, and for anyone that doesn’t know the Nobel Peace Prize which was started in honour of dynamite inventor Alfred Nobel.

For a county with a relatively small population and geographically located in a challenging environment, Sweden has had a major contribution to many people lives around the world. The UK in particular has benefited tremendously because if you go back far enough in history.

As the UK is an island nation there is a long history of immigration and invasion, of which the Scandinavian people have played a significant part in. Certainly in the north of England, Scotland, the Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands, the Vikings had a major impact and brought with them their naval knowledge and their culture. Whether or not they were welcomed is not worth debating because ultimately it didn’t really matter and in the long term helped shape the country we know today.

You can also have Sworn translations (Affidavit) with certification signed, sworn and sealed before a solicitor or notary public.
