Translation of literature is unique of its kind. For it must not only convey the meaning of the source text, but also its rhythm, tone, melody, allusions or metaphors. At Today Translations, we believe it is an art. Nabokov's 1922 translation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland into Russian may divert from the original work in many aspects, but it is deemed to be one of the best translations ever made. Nabokov sought to make the novel familiar to the Russian children, having even renamed "Alice" to "Anja", which is a common girl's name in Russia.

Journalistic prose, on the other hand, tends to be more transparent and to follow some stereotyped norms and conventions. But the shortness and immediacy of a news story in a British newspaper is rarely found in the paragraphs or even the headlines of a Spanish counterpart. Ignoring these conventions means undermining the countries and cultures where they were born.

In poetry or prose, at Today Translations we make sure that your texts will be dealt with by professionals who understand the culture of your target country and who are absolutely passionate about writing. Our translators work closely with our clients to ensure they've understood your specific nomenclature in order to arrange an accurate and tailored delivery into your required languages.
