Countries Unite to Wish for a Better World - Full List of Wishes

Home » Wish

In the spirit of the upcoming festivities and holiday season, we contacted our linguists from around the world to ask one simple question:

'If you were to make one wish on behalf of your native country and your people, what would it be?'

We had a fantastic response, you can read more about it in our blog here.

Below you will find a full list of wishes from all our linguists and translators.

Country Wish
Angola Peace, Love & Harmony.
Argentina Make every single day loving, joyful, peaceful, and grateful; then all your heart´s wishes will come true. Guaranteed*. (*) Some other conditions may apply.
Argentina For the male population: stop being chauvinistic. Get a grip- Women rule!
Armenia Let the people in my country be happy and light-hearted so that walking in the streets with a smile on ones face wouldn't be something strange to anyone (As people here have so many socio-economic problems that a smiling person in the street is a real amazement for everyone).
Bangladesh As I lost faith in the current political leadership, I wish I could be the Prime Minister for my countrymen to make them smile
Belarus I wish freedom, democracy and no borders for all who is in Belarus.
Belarus Peace and freedom to Belarus and its people, freedom to political prisoners in Belarus and around the world.
Belgium My wish has just come true: we finally have a government!
Belgium My wish is that American people stop thinking that dipping your fries in mayonnaise is disgusting -  this is one of our national dishes!
Belgium Get rid of all Belgian f... politicians and maniacs !
Belgium For big-hearted people in our small Begium
Brazil All corrupt politicians and judges behind bars and people who don't accept corruption as a natural thing
Cameroon Free and high quality health care and education
China A Prosperous International Community in the Name of the Chinese People
China 祝您新年新气象,一切平安!
Croatia Smarter voters
Liberal politicians
Open society
A conervative fiscal policy
Cuba Freedom
Denmark My answer is not that uplifting though; I would like Denmark to be a more tolerant, open and sharing nation in the future, and I would love it, if it was possible to lower the tax level, but not the social security - as it is now taxes go up, but social security disappears from our society.
And a free bouquet of flowers for all mothers every 1st Sunday of every month - would be paid by tax money though...?!
Denmark Be nicer to the Norwegians
Egypt I would wish real democracy for all, with the Army playing its normal role, away from government, free and fair elections, and an independant Judiciary.
Egypt Peaceful world, no hunger & no diseases.
Free Palestine
Democratic Middle East
Arab spring becomes fruitful
Egypt I wish Egypt will be on the right track, and we build a civilian authoriy and live a complete democratic life.
Egypt What I wish for my country in 2012 is for the USA and Britain to stay away from my country and to interfere in any issue.

Finland Nice treatment for all
France Just a little dream and hope for everybody…
France Leaders with integrity
Georgia Health, new job, more money, ......and better luck in personal life:) Let the year 2012 take all bad stuff away giving us better things in life! As for my native country - PEACE!
Germany Jerryland and the rest of Europe should pay their debts - stopping salary rises and inflation.
Ghana I would wish for all deprived Ghanaians to be able to have a warm Christmas dinner this and every Christmas.
Greece I am pretty sure that a wish that covers most of the Greeks these days would be: 'no more crisis and for things to get better'
Greece Peace and prosperity
Hungary I'd wish Hungarians much less anxiety, frustration and fear, and much more zest for life, fun, tolerance and sense of humour.
Hungary Compulsory dance classes for everyone, so that they would learn how to relax and communicate and smile :)
India May peace, good health and prosperty prevail and 2012 be the watershed to banish hatred & mistrust in the entire world. Lots of love from India!
India End of corruption
India May the Holy-Water of Ganges and the bright Sun-light help you reap the luxurious crops of your desires!

Italy A new positive economic situation that creates more smiles on people's faces!!!!! We are all too sad during this period!!!
Italy May the Euro find the way it deserves - to the cemetery of currencies - as soon as possible

Thanks for the best wishes and season's greetings to you all!
Italy Erase the last 50 years and go back to 1960
Italy What I wish for Italy is: wise and sensible politicians and hopefully more women! Apart from considering them generally more practical and down-to-earth, a change in the constitution of power is always promising.
Italy Less wages to politicians, hence less taxes to cover their whims, hence more money for citizens
Italy More job opportunities for all Italians
Japan A hoover that can suck all the radiation in Eastern Japan!
Japan Peace of mind recovering from the disaster, a step forward developing yourself.
Japan Smiles that make those who lost families in tsunami last March smile
Latvia I wish everyone on earth has my mentality and attitudes!!! :-)
Lithuania For people to be more tolerant, less envious about each other and that they  complain less about their native country as there are so many countries in the world which are much much worse than Lithuania and where life is much more difficult but people somehow are happy and proud about their country...
Lithuania To grow a new Sabonis (Basketball is the second religion in Lithuania)
Lithuania Less emigrants in 2012, as there are only 2.5 million Lithuanians left!

Poland A happier year than its predecessor - not just for my country, but for the world.
Poland Lots of sunshine!
Poland May it continue to become a peaceful, prosperous  and happy place where everyone can express their individuality and fulfil their potential
Portugal In the past Portugal has discovered the maritime routes, now we need to discover the routes for prosperity. A Happy Christmas and a better year for all in 2012.
Portugal People talk too much, argue too much and most of the times it doesn’t work. My country – and the rest of the world – need to act if we want to solve any problem.
So, my wish is: Talk less and act more!
Romania A day of sheer and pure happiness each month!
Russia A new liberal and honest president.
Russia I would like to see Russia making steps towards real democracy - with the free media and fair elections.  Just now - after the parliamentary elections of the 4th December -  protests in Russia showed how fed up its people are with the new form of totalitarian regime that has developed under Putin.
Russia Better life conditions for Russian pensioners!
Serbia Having in mind all the global tumultuous events recently and in my
(Balkan) region during the past 20 years, it can only be this for Serbian or rather people of ex Yugoslavia: MIR i NAPREDAK (peace and prosperity)
Slovakia Good competent, caring and unselfish leadership, higher wages for everyone and stricter rules regarding the gypsy situation in Slovakia, especially their benefits and crime punishments.
Slovakia I would wish for all people not only in Slovakia but all over the world to live in peace and have work. Because if people have work they can live somehow.

Spain Trabajo y paz para todos

Spain A job for everybody - With more than 5 million unemployed in Spain (including many family and friends…), that’s the first wish I can think of!
Spain At least one earning job per household. Not too much, but something currently over 1,000,000 households in Spain lack.

UK Peace, bread, work and freedom.
