UK Trade and Investment

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is the UK governmental department in charge of working with UK organisations seeking to boost international trade links and expanding business overseas. It also seeks to encourage international companies to establish trade links with the UK.

Scope
Having previously worked in conjunction with the governmental body on a study exploring the role of languages in international trade, UKTI approached Today Translations to provide them with two Chinese Mandarin and two Russian consecutive interpreters for a series of trade events on green energy, renewables and waste management in London, Derby and Manchester.

Challenge
With 60 foreign buyers and 100 delegates from the UK, the four interpreters were engaged in a series of one-to-one meetings, where emotions and reservations needed to be skillfully conveyed.

Result
As well as sourcing the ideal linguists with an in-depth knowledge of environmental engineering and business negotiations, our project managers were at the heart of organisation and logistics process, looking after travel arrangements and meeting points for the four interpreters.
