United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) coordinates UN’s environmental actions, promoting sustainable advances for the global environment, however particularly in developing countries. Its main roles include assessing environmental conditions and trends in different regions. Today Translations is a long-standing provider of translation services for the UNEP, as well as their sister initiative, The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB).

Scope
Today Translations was commissioned to translate the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity for Local and Regional Policy Makers report, one of the largest UN-backed ecology reports of the last decade. Spanning hundreds of thousands of words, the report needed to be translated into Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish. Because, as the title suggests, this was to be distributed among leading policymakers, quality and timely delivery was of the highest order.

Execution
Today Translations brought together a pool of 15 different professional translators, proofreaders and typesetters. As few linguists were used as possible as a means of keeping client costs as low as possible; however, this meant that the final translated products (typesetting included) were only delivered two months later.
Our project management and accounts team were more-or-less constant communication with the client and the translators throughout the scope of the project.

Result
All translations were fully typeset and delivered on time and to the clients satisfaction. Since then, Today Translations has since been assigned a number of further publications for translation.
