Giving a boost to Britain’s SMEs isn’t about charity

Today (30 Nov 11), Jurga Zilinskiene, MD of Today Translations, chaired a roundtable discussion regarding fair and sustainable supply chain management. In attendance were representatives from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), UK Trade & Invest (UKTI), SMEs from various sectors and major city buyers such as Avanti Communications Group plc.

Opening the event in the Ernst & Young HQ at Tower Bridge, Zilinskiene said: “I am a great supporter of philanthropy, which plays a huge part in modern society. However, this round table discussion is not about charity. I would stress that it is not even about corporate social responsibility. It is about creating win/win situations and building good business models that help UK companies – large and small. And this, in turn, is good for people and our fragile economy”.

The Round table forms part of the joint venture between the City of London Corporation and GLE aimed at supporting SMEs in London.
